Welcome to jamesdaviesmedia.co.uk
My name is James Davies and I am a twenty-two year old university
graduate who is currently studying for a post-graduate Diploma
in Broadcast Journalism at Cardiff University.
My main goal, once I have completed
the nine month Diploma at Cardiff University’s School
of Journalism, is to become a broadcast journalist and, if possible,
follow in the footsteps of Sir Michael Parkinson, Jonathan Ross,
Piers Morgan and others of that ilk, by having my own television
chat show.
I would, however, also like to carry on writing for either a newspaper or magazine as this, too, is something I really enjoy and get great satisfaction from.

Journalism is something I have always been interested in. Not only am I interested in other journalists reports and dispatches, but have also, at first hand, been party to covering stories for the three student publications I have written for during my undergraduate degree.

HERE TO SEE SOME OF MY RECENT WORK
I have been involved in many stories covering a diverse mix of news worthy items, including, covering the 2007, 2008 and 2009 Edinburgh Film Festivals, going behind the scenes at England’s football, rugby and cricket training sessions, spending the morning with Sir Sean Connery and David Beckham, and interviewing the likes of Shane Warne, Sir Jackie Stewart, Ricky Hatton, Colin Firth and Keira Knightley, to name but a few. This, I think, is from where my interest in journalism and communication has stemmed.
Since writing a behind the scenes feature on ‘My Day with the England Football Team’, for my school magazine - The Cathedralian- in 2005, at the age of 16, I have been really determined to succeed in what I consider an exciting career, where I am able to meet and interview an array of talented individuals- who I admire-as well as working with all the interesting people who work in the industry, along the way.

Since contracting the journalism bug, I have regularly written for a few student publications. These include, my school magazine, The Cathedralian (from 2004-2006), my university magazine RE:SUS (2006-2009), where I won ‘Journalist of the Year Award 2006/2007’, and The National Student- a publication distributed to all the universities in the country (2007-present).
I have also been a regular contributor to DV8 magazine, a publication for youngsters in Bristol, Manchester, Clapham, Southampton and Bournemouth, and have presented a number of shows for Solent Productions, including 2008s Graduation, where I interviewed Craig David and Jeremy Irons, who both received Honorary Doctorates.
Part of my interview with Jeremy Irons was featured on the BBC’s regional news programme, The South Today.
As well as this, I have also been incredibly fortunate in gaining some invaluable work experience at Sky Television, the BBC and ITV West, as well as at a number of newspapers, including the Bath Chronicle, the Southampton Daily Echo and the Gloucestershire Gazette.
With this website, I hope to share my passion for journalism and, hopefully, achieve my ambitions.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. Please do get in contact.
Sincerely,
James (Davies)
